Food Diary / Osaka / 22 Jan 2025
Ryunosu gave Osaka a very solid first lunch.
Flew Sapporo to Osaka, then a late lunch near Shinsaibashi. Really good beef, a big bowl of udon, and a good start to a new city.
Warm, generous, simple. The beef was the clear highlight, but the udon made it a full meal.
Ryunosu isn't about being famous. It just came at exactly the right time.
The meat was really good, with the kind of marbling that makes lunch instantly worth it. Best thing on the table, and the first thing I remembered afterward.
The udon was a big portion and tasted nice. Good after a flight. Beef plus udon: generous without trying too hard.
Quick Take
Good beef first, comfort second
It did two things well: a proper beef highlight, and a bowl of udon that felt right after a flight.
Nothing complicated. It just had to make Osaka feel good from the start, and it did. The beef had the most flavour. The udon made it a full, practical travel-day meal.
Trip context: the kind of late lunch that makes your first afternoon in a new city feel settled fast.
Disclosure: I paid for this meal in full. Nothing here was hosted, comped, or discounted.
