Food Diary / Sapporo / 19 Jan 2025
7-Eleven dinner after a full winter day.
After Moerenuma Park, seafood lunch and Mt. Moiwa, dinner was a convenience-store haul back at the hotel. Not fancy, but very Japan trip.
Crab-style snacks, thick egg, grilled chicken, cheese chikuwa and a cream puff. Enough to end the day relaxed, with no extra outing.
One of the nicest Japan travel habits: accepting that a convenience-store dinner still counts as a memory.
Not about finding the best restaurant, just ending the day comfortably. After being outside so much, grabbing a few interesting things and eating them at the hotel felt exactly right.
So I'm keeping this one. The trip isn't only the “best of” meals. It's also the hotel-room dinners that keep the pace human.
Quick Take
Not a destination meal, but the right one at the time
Comfort, not prestige. That's why it worked.
One of the small pleasures of travelling in Japan. Pick up a bit of everything, share it, end the day with zero pressure. Not every dinner needs booking or research to be worth remembering.
Trip context: after a long winter day out, the easiest way to settle back into the hotel and enjoy the quiet part of the trip.
Disclosure: I paid for this meal in full. Nothing here was hosted, comped, or discounted.
