Food Diary / Sapporo / 18 Jan 2025 / 22:30
Arrival-night ramen in a tiny, busy alley.
Landed at New Chitose Airport, checked in, then late ramen. Small, cramped, warm, full of first-night Sapporo energy. Exactly right.
The broth is what stuck with me. Savoury, comforting, exactly what I wanted after a long travel day.
The first Sapporo meal didn't need to be polished. Hot, savoury, comforting. That's it.
Small and cramped, but in a very Japan way: close, efficient, full of life. Want a relaxed dinner with room to linger? Probably not this. For an arrival night, though, the tight counter actually helped.
The broth was the highlight. Very nice, savoury and comforting at that hour. A proper start to Hokkaido.
Quick Take
A travel-day bowl that hit the spot
It makes sense in context. After the airport and check-in, the bowl was comfort first, sightseeing second.
The shop isn't spacious, and I wouldn't call it a slow or elegant meal. But the small counter setup made it better, not worse, especially for a late arrival-night dinner.
Trip context: a first-night Sapporo stop that makes the city feel real right away.
Disclosure: I paid for this meal in full. Nothing here was hosted, comped, or discounted.
