Gyukatsu Motomura made Tokyo start very strong.

Flew Kansai to Tokyo, then a late lunch here. Exactly what a first Tokyo meal should be: warm, rich, fun, and good from the first bite.

Crispy beef cutlet, a hot stone to finish it on, little side dishes. A proper start to a new city.

Gyukatsu Motomura beef cutlet set with sides and rice
The set looked complete before I even started: cutlet, cabbage, sauces, rice, and the little hot stone waiting.

Right away this felt like one of the best food stops of the trip.

Crispy outside, tender inside. The small hot stone made it fun, because you finish each slice yourself, bite by bite. That's what made it stick more than a normal fried-cutlet lunch.

Rice bowls, cabbage, pickles, sauces, side dishes. The whole set felt complete. Not just a quick lunch after a flight. It's the meal that made Tokyo start strong.

Quick Take

Worth the hype. The whole set is thought through

It's not just one crispy cutlet. The whole tray matters: sauces, cabbage, rice, little sides, and cooking each slice a bit more on the stone.

Every part was easy to enjoy. The beef hit right away, and the sides made it generous, not one-note. That's why it's still a good Tokyo pick.

Trip context: the right late lunch after landing in Tokyo, when you want your energy back and a strong start to the city.

Disclosure: I paid for this meal in full. Nothing here was hosted, comped, or discounted.
